Intentions
The poster was designed to advertise an electronic music night in Salford on the internet and social media, so the goal was to capture eyes, generate interest, and ultimately sell tickets. The design also attempted to embody the feeling of listening to the music that would be played on the night.
Execution
DJ Lag is celebrated as one of the pioneers of gqom music, and this poster is based around a flowing 3D metallic render of his name, rendered in Blender. The smooth lyricality of the rendered letterforms mirrors the rich, smooth feel of the music, which is offset by explosive percussion, shown quite literally in the background of the composition.
